Stretford Covid Response Hub

Collective Partner:
Friends of Stretford Public Hall
Our Hub’s initial aim was to meet the immediate and significant needs of our local community through providing support; principally by providing essential food and medication to those who were vulnerable, shielding and isolating.
Stretford Public Hall volunteer delivering perscriptions

From April until August that year, Stretford Public Hall and housed and managed a well stocked foodbank. We arranged daily deliveries of essential food to those in need, with the help of our hard working team of volunteers. Our volunteers also collected and delivered prescriptions and personal shopping to those who were unable to collect for themselves and provided supportive phone calls to those who were alone and isolated. By the end of August we had:

  • Answered over 850 incoming calls for help;
  • Delivered over 360 Foodbank parcels;
  • Helped with over 100 food shop orders;
  • Conducted over 470 wellbeing calls;
  • Delivered 57 prescriptions, and
  • Delivered over 8000 newsletters and flyers to households in Stretford...and bought/ delivered one microwave!

Stretford Public Hall has continued to respond to the needs of our local community throughout the subsequent lockdowns , via its helpline.
