Strengthening referral pathways

Collective Partner:
Trafford Carers Centre
Over the last 12 months Trafford Carers Centre has developed partnerships through Trafford's Community Collective to reach out and to support unpaid carers, particularly those largely impacted by the pandemic.

Impact on carers has largely been through taking on additional caring responsibilities as a result of face to face services and respite services being suspended. Impact has also been felt financially (many carers being furloughed or losing their job), with mental health and rising anxiety about having to shield or self isolate and the impact this has on the person they care for and an escalation of isolation.

Through Trafford Community Collective we have been able to highlight the impacts of coronovirus on carers and this led to united community response in particular through lead partners/community hubs who  supported with delivering food parcels, looking after pets, providing advice and a listening ear and referring carers for direct carer support which resulted in a 44% increase in referrals received over the last 12 months.
